I had long wanted to come to Spain, but unexpected events didn’t allow me to come any earlier. The problem was choosing which city to visit first. Reading several reviews and talking with various friends and acquaintances, the places were very similar and yet each has its own charm.
So, on my first trip to the Iberian Peninsula, I decided to begin with Valencia! This small town has really fascinated me; full of history, monuments to visit, and local places where you can spend pleasant evenings.
The historic center is easily accessible on foot. It’s just a short walk, a good map, and a desire to discover some of the history of Valencia. I had the good fortune to stay in the center of town in what could be described as a family run hotel. With small but comfortable rooms, nothing in common with a hostel, and right in the middle of downtown.
In addition to the historic downtown area, Valencia has a new part where the Oceanographic is found, an absolutely fascinating structure that is not to be missed.
But probably one of the nicest things about Valencia are the beaches … you must visit them!
