Madrid 20-21 May 2016

The capital!

Until now I had always avoided Madrid because people had told me there was nothing special, but I change my mind after talking to an acquaintance that travel over there and she had been very enthusiastic about the city so I decided to try it! And I was not disappointed.
The first tip I can give you is to buy the Madrid Card if you have the intension to visit many attractions here in town, and a subscription to use the metro, certainly the best transport in Madrid!
The first stop coming from the airport, due to logistical reasons, was the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, one of soccer’s most timeless venues in Europe. It contains the countless trophies museum that makes you understand what it means for a professional player to wear the shirt of this team.

After the stop at the stadium I headed towards the center, and obviously the first goal was to reach the Royal Palace…

With the Madrid Card, of course, you can visit it for free and without having to wait in line. You will have access to what I think is the most beautiful monument of the city.

Another thing not to miss is the Cathedral right next to it…

And then continue the walk through the Plaza Mayor…

There are many places to see in this city. So, why not go to the Puerta del Sol, the true center of La movida in Madrid. Let’s not forget the Gran Via, the Plaza de Cibeles, and the various museums, including Del Prado and the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.
Once you arrived there, you should not miss the Buen Retiro park which is truly vast. Inside of it, you can find the Crystal Palace which makes for some impressive photography. You don’t want to skip it!
Finally, I have also visited the Vicente Calderon Stadium (Stadium Atletico Madrid), always included in the Madrid Card. The last thing you should not miss is, off course, the Plaza de Toros de las Ventas that contains the bullring…
