Washington DC: 6th-7th of September 2017

Washington DC was not in our itinerary. We had planned to spend three days in Philadelphia (Philadelphia) with the idea of making a quick trip to the capital because of the proximity but then, with the adventures that we found ourselves in Philadelphia, and the unsafe atmosphere we felt, made us make this decision to spend two days in the capital.

We left in the morning from Philadelphia, around 8:00 am on a daunting day in September, to found ourselves in the middle of morning in Washington DC Once we checked in at the hotel, we took the day slowly, because the weather was not too favorable and we only went out for lunch, allowing us to shop in the afternoon at a mall near our hotel…

The second day, however, was a beautiful sunny day, and we came out early in the morning to discover this city. The first stop was the Lincoln Memorial…

This monument is really impressive and the view that comes from here is extraordinary. The “monument of Washington” in the background and the “Lincoln Memorial reflection pool” on a beautiful sunny day leave you absolutely breathless…

There is no way of not walking along the “Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool” towards the Washington Monument where you will find yourself passing the monument to the fallen soldiers of World War II…

And just as you reach the Washington Monument, you can turn to your right and see the world’s most famous house. No, I’m not talking about any TV show, I’m talking about the White House, the residence of the President of the States United States of America…

The desire to approach it will be inevitable, even if only for a few moments to see it even closer. We were lucky enough to find us near the entrance of the White House just as the President (in this case President Trump) was coming back with all the security cars and bikes of his escort. Really a stroke of luck!

Once attended to this show, you can go back to the Washington Monument and continue the walk on the right to Capitol Hill. The scenario you will have in front of you, photos can’t capture it…

Once we arrived at Capitol Hill, and admired all the beauties of the area, we headed to the “Riverside” for lunch. We had a nice walk and then decided to take a cruise on the river from Alexandria to Georgetown and return, and it was really a great idea because we were able to admire this wonderful city from another point of view…

They were really two wonderful days, in a city that was a great discovery. I would never think to say it, but probably one of my favorite cities in the U.S.

Washington DC… 6-7 Settembre 2017
