The same day that I drove the Mustang GT, I also booked a second “driving experience” with the Porsche Cayman GTS. I honestly didn’t know what to expect because I had driven far superior automobiles that are superior on paper such as the Lamborghini Huracan, the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Ferrari California and even the Mustang GT. Therefore the “small” and “only” 241 horsepower left me thinking of something not too fast. However, I had to reconsider the greatness of this machine…

At the end of the 2:00 pm session, just before I tried the Porsche Cayman GTS, the track was getting busy…

Once I got in the Porsche Cayman GTS, the first difference I noticed was the smaller paddle shifters on the steering wheel for the sequential gearbox than I am used to. The paddle shifters are mounted on the right and left of the steering wheel and are easy to use…

I immediately adapted to this very agile and maneuverable car. The acceleration is very good, despite the “only” 241 horsepower and the gearbox is very fast. I had a great feeling from the start, when I was out of the pit and tried to accelerate to over 150 Km / h. It made me feel perfectly comfortable in this supercar…

My co-pilot immediately realized that I felt comfortable with the car right away, so he started giving me advices to delay the braking a bit, to face the chicane at a higher speed and let the car run up to the entrance of the hairpin. And then again, full throttle already from the middle curve to take full advantage of the power in straight line…

The third lap was probably the closest to perfection. Coming out of the hairpin and entering into the straight away at full throttle in second gear and taking advantage of the whole track, I used all the power of this gem to reach over 200 Km / h. I reached the limit just before the chicane which made me enter it at a sustained speed in fourth gear and then breaking even before the first hairpin, using second gear. The excellent grip of the Porsche Cayman GTS allowed me to floor it! Despite the RWD, the stability of this car is really remarkable. So, again in third, fourth and fifth gear, and braking again, fourth gear, to enter the chicane at high speed, I followed a perfect trajectory with my co-pilot who kept repeating “good job man”! From our smiles, it is evident that we started to enjoy ourselves…

Feeling very comfortable with this car, the traffic on the track and maybe some inexperience of the drivers that preceded me, the last three laps were a succession of overtaking. The first victim was the Lamborghini Gallardo Spider on the fourth lap. Using the Porsche’s acceleration exiting the curve and taking advantage of the power of my car, I easily pass him…

I was very focused because I was already planning the subsequent overtaking of the Aston Martin on the initial straight. Then, before the chicane, I was already close to another two other cars in front of me: the Nissan Skyline GTR and the Mustang GT. I had noticed that they were not very fast, so I tried to delay a little my entry into the curve, to exit quicker and accelerate out of the curve, pulling alongside the Nissan Skyline GTR in the exit of the curve. I took advantage of every centimeter of the track, touching almost the grass on the outside and in full acceleration on the straight line I almost joined the Mustang GT, bringing me to the inner trajectory for the next chicane. Having already driven the Mustang GT shortly before, I knew that I could delay the brake at least a second later and having the inside trajectory, I slipped by perfectly in the entrance of the chicane, maintained at very high speed in fourth gear and delaying the braking for the final hairpin, again in second gear. My co-pilot kept repeating “good job man!” Good job!”

Our faces from the photos show how much we were having fun! In the last lap, I also passed the Ferrari F430 that came out of the pits along the straight line at low speed.
The Porsche Cayman GTS was a really nice surprise. Agile and light, precise at the corner entrance, with excellent road grip make this supercar truly unique experience to try on the track.
