After the fantastic experience with the Jaguar F-Type Convertible, I decided to go back to Enterprise’s Exotic car rental at Heathrow airport for a new test drive.
This time the choice was a car that I have been liked a lot, since the name was SLK, the new Mercedes SLC 300.
The model is quite unique, a coupe / convertible, and this uniqueness is perhaps the thing that has always made it so fascinating to me in all these years.
Once the roof is off, the lines of this car leave no room for comments…
But also the performances surprised me; the 4-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower has a lot of torque and thanks to the 9-speed Mercedes gearbox and rear-wheel drive, it makes it really fun to drive. And the engine noise is not disappointing at all…
But for sure the main feature of this nice car is enjoying a beautiful sunny day with the wind in your hair…
So, after a tour on the south coast of the United Kingdom, we went back to Arundel Castle for another suggestive shot…
In the afternoon, however, we returned to what I have now renamed the “lighthouse circuit” near Eastbourne, where the beautiful sunny day forced us to get out of the car for a nice walk…
Once back behind the steering wheel, in the first lap I took it easy, without even putting the car in “sport” mode; the street, due to the beautiful sunny day, was quite crowded…
As can also be seen from the next video, the speed was not that high even because of the traffic…
On the second lap it went slightly better with the traffic…
But given the high presence of other cars, cyclists and people who walked by the roadside, as usual I preferred to keep calm and enjoy the sunny day…
The Mercedes SLC 300 was another really interesting test drive; very fun car to drive for the boost that the 241 horsepower and the 9-speed gearbox are able to give, as well as for the rear-wheel drive which certainly makes it much more unstable than a normal front or all-wheel drive.

Dopo la fantastica esperienza con la Jaguar F-Type Cabrio, ho deciso di tornare all’Exotic car rental di Enterprise all’aeroporto di Heathrow per un nuovo test di guida.
Questa volta la scelta è ricaduta su una macchina che mi è sempre piaciuta tantissimo, fin da quando il nome era SLK, la nuova Mercedes SLC 300.
Il modello è abbastanza unico nel suo genere, una coupe/cabrio, e questa unicità è forse la cosa che l’ha resa sempre così affascinante ai miei occhi in tutti questi anni.
Una volta aperto il tettino le linee di questa macchina non lasciano spazio ai commenti…
Ma anche le prestazioni mi hanno ben impressionato; il motore 4 cilindri con 241 cavalli ha moltissima coppia e grazie al cambio Mercedes 9 rapporti e la trazione posteriore, la rendono davvero divertente da guidare. E il rumore del motore non mi dispiace affatto…
Ma di sicuro la caratteristica principale di questa macchina rimane il godersi una splendida giornata di sole con il vento tra i capelli…
Così, dopo un giro sulla costa Sud del Regno Unito, siamo passati di nuovo ad Arundel Castle per un altro scatto suggestivo…
Nel pomeriggio invece siamo tornati in quello che ormai ho ribattezzato il “circuito del Faro” nei pressi di Eastbourne, dove la bella giornata di sole ci ha costretto anche a scendere dalla macchina per una bella passeggiata…
Il primo giro l’ho affrontato abbastanza tranquillamente, senza neanche mettere la vettura in modalità “sport”; la strada, merito la splendida giornata di sole, era piuttosto affollata…
Come si puó vedere anche dal prossimo video l’andatura era abbastanza controllata e il traffico, considerando la “larghezza” della carreggiata, influisce molto…
Nel secondo giro é andata leggermente meglio con il traffico…
Ma vista l’elevata presenza di altre auto, ciclisti e persone che camminavano a bordo strada, come al solito ho preferito tenermi tranquillo e godermi la giornata di sole…
La Mercedes SLC 300 é stato un altro test drive davvero interessante; auto divertentissima da guidare per la spinta che i 241 cavalli e il cambio 9 rapporti riescono a dare, oltre che per la trazione posteriore che la rende sicuramente molto piú instabile e “ballerina” di una normale trazione anteriore o integrale.
